Walking Tour Is Best Way to See Downtown

culture, downtown, history, walking tour,

Ready to see the sights of Mt. Sterling? Park the car; you’ll have a better time on foot.

There’s plenty of historical architecture to be seen‚ and a slower-paced walking tour will ensure that you don’t miss a thing. Brochures are available at the Bell House‚ 51 N. Maysville St. - the circa 1815 home now houses the Chamber of Commerce and serves as the tour’s official starting point.

James A. Browning‚ local historian‚ says any good tour of the Mt. Sterling area should at least include the renovated buildings on East Main and South Maysville streets‚ the old opera house‚ railroad station and courthouse.

“It’s all real interesting‚” he says.
